Product Information

Your Mini's clutch slave cylinder is attached to the side of the transmission and transmits pedal movement to the clutch with hydraulic pressure. With age the seals can fail from corrosives. Normally if a slave cylinder is failing it will become difficult to shift due to poor clutch engagement. If the slave cylinder fails the pedal will go all the way to the floor and not come back.

Clutch Slave Cylinder

A clutch slave cylinder is a hydraulic component in a manual transmission system that assists in engaging and disengaging the clutch. When the clutch pedal is pressed, hydraulic fluid is forced into the slave cylinder, which then moves the clutch release fork, allowing the driver to shift gears smoothly. It works in tandem with the clutch master cylinder to transfer force from the pedal to the clutch assembly.

Clutch Slave Cylinder Failure Symptoms
  • Difficulty Shifting Gears: If the slave cylinder fails, it may not fully disengage the clutch, making it difficult to shift gears smoothly, especially into first or reverse
  • Soft or Spongy Clutch Pedal: A common symptom is a spongy or soft feel when pressing the clutch pedal, as the slave cylinder fails to build adequate hydraulic pressure
  • Clutch Pedal Stuck to the Floor: In severe cases, the clutch pedal may stick to the floor or be slow to return, preventing proper clutch engagement and making it hard to drive.

2005 Mini Cooper Base Hatchback
Installed on 2005 Mini Cooper Base. Quite challenging to bleed but once completed, worked like a charm. Use a power bleeder and manually push the piston into the cylinder until bubbles disappear then release slowly. Tighten the bleed screw and install. Just like that, it's all done.

r53 JCW. Fixed my leak. Pain to bleed, and kind of a pain to install. But works well once done.

great replacement but bad to work with it when cold got one crack where the boot seats got it replace by fcp fast no problem

Great Product
Great product, it is plastic but also durable and works great like oem. The bleeding process is a pain though. you will not be able to manually bleed it with two people. You will need some sort of vacuum pump to suck the air out or a brake bleeding tool kit in order to bleed the system.
