Its main purpose is to keep lubricating grease or gear oil inside the wheel bearings while preventing dirt, water, and debris from entering. By maintaining proper lubrication and cleanliness, it helps ensure smooth wheel rotation and extends the life of the bearings. Over time, heat, wear, and exposure to road contaminants can cause the seal to deteriorate.
