Engine Water Pump

Your vehicles engine water pump is responsible for keeping coolant flowing through the engine. As water pumps get old the internal bearing can go bad causing noise and a coolant leak. A good indicator that your water pump is failing is if you see coolant leaking through the water pump "weep hole".

Engine Water Pump Failure Symptoms

2015 C300 Water Pump
If your C300 overheats, think on replacing the thermostat and the water pump at the same time. My car was overheating and I initially just replaced the thermostat, then overheating came back. Went through the pain of replacing the water pump and could not be happier with the results. Overheating is gone! Mercedes-Benz part was an exact replacement.

Thanks for your response! I see that there is another pump with part number 2742001507 following with the extra 85. What is the difference between these two? And will the one ending with 85 fit a MB C300 w205 2015? Early version without the rear turbocharger port?

The 85 in MB speak indicates the part is a rebuilt item, however, you will typically see aftermarket companies (and sometimes our listings) reference both as OE numbers to make searching simpler. If the item does not carry a core charge like the Hepu unit we offer under that number, it is usually not rebuilt and does not require a core to be sent back.

I have the W205 version that does not have the turbo line connecting to the water pump rear area. Does this water pump have the drilled open hole or no open hole? Thank you

This Genuine Mercedes 2742001507 water pump has the rear/top boss closed/undrilled, so it does not have an open rear turbo-line port. That should match your W205 setup that does not use the turbo coolant line at the rear of the pump, but please verify by VIN or compare to your original pump before ordering.
