Common source of a harsh or bouncy ride, these accumulators fail internally causing the fluid to bypass the diaphragm and prevent proper shock absorption.

As Freudenberg’s aftermarket distribution arm, Corteco supplies OE-quality spare parts directly from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) – Freudenberg to the Independent Aftermarket, ensuring passenger cars are restored to their original setup post-repair.

Understanding the diverse needs of drivers, Corteco offers OE-quality spare parts tailored specifically for passenger cars. From rubber-metal and steering & suspension parts for a smooth ride to reliable sealing solutions and micronAir filters for the best air quality in the cabin, Corteco provides a comprehensive range of precision-engineered automotive spare parts.

Originally founded in 1849 as a leather tannery Freudenburg started making seals in 1932 with the invention of the Simmerring®. This seal style quickly replaced felt seals as the new standard for radial shaft sealing rings for rotating shafts/assemblies. Freudenburg began engineering and manufacturing vibration control technology with shock absorbers and bushings in 1957. It was in that same year that Freudenburg partnered with an Italian seal manufacturer Corte & Cosso, creating the Corteco brand. Continuing their history of innovation, Corteco introduced Micronair cabin filters in 1989 and quickly became the market leader in cabin filtering technology.

With over 26,000 parts and products in their product line, Corteco has one of the largest catalogs of sealing and vibration controls. FCP Euro has partnered with Corteco for the 2019 TC America Championship. They are a title sponsor on our 2018 Volkswagen GTI TCR race cars. We offer Corteco's full line of OE and OEM components for your European vehicle.

Works great
I put these on my 190E 2.3-16, even though the 36 year old factory original accumulators still held pressure (somehow). I changed them out of preventative maintenance reasons. The hardest part is handling the extremely high-pressure hydraulic fluid, which took me about an hour to drain fully before I disconnected the lines. Once installed and the system was fully bled, the car rode and handled like a new car again. I can confirm that even with two adults and 250 pounds of cargo weighing down the rear, the ride height is consistent.

OE smoothness and ride height restored
Sure, you could pay more for accumulators, but these Cortecos instantly returned OE ride quality and height. Perfect fit, too.

Self-Leveling Accumulators Corteco
Purchased these Accumulators for my 1987 560SEL. Direct fit...easy replacement part. Suggested replacement every 50k to 60k. Its like a wear item. The ride is now smooth and level again. My vehicle only has 58k miles on it, but it is a noticeable nicer ride with these in the back. Again.. just a few bolts to replace. Very easy for a backyard mechanic even if you have limited experience. FCP EURO had the best price I could find at the time. Highly recommend them!

New life to an old suspension
I replaced both accumulators because Kent Bergsma (Youtube) mentioned that when they go bad, the car will have a stiff "buck board" ride. The difference is AMAZING. DIY tip: It is difficult to get to 2 of the mounting nuts. Remove the front nut then carefully bend the bracket back enough to gain access to the other 2 nuts from below the accumulator body.

A very happy customer :)
I purchased two of these for my 1976 Mercedes 450SE and had them shipped to New Zealand. They were very quick to arrive and my mechanic was surprised I was able to get them for such an old car. The quality is perfect, the ride is super smooth and the self leveling suspension works perfectly once again. Highly recommended for those with older Mercs who are finding there is a lot of bounce coming from the rear.

Question Posted by a customer
Hi, What would be the shelf life of these Accumulators. I'm thinking of buying a pair for future installment. Maybe in 3 or 4 years. Just wanted to know if the nitrogen air bags inside last forever if not being used? Thanks Garth

I'm sorry, we don't have that information available. Might be best to contact the manufacturer for the most accurate info, Corteco in this case.
