Suspension Control Arm

Control arms are crucial link in a vehicle's suspension connecting the suspension to a vehicle's subframe. These pieces are usually hinged to allow for suspension to travel and articulate as the vehicle rides over obstructions in the road and while the vehicle turns. Many vehicles such as those with independent suspensions have multiple links and feature several connection points and arms to offer better ride quality and comfort.

As bushings and joints in a control arm begin to wear you may notice a looseness feel in your suspension. And while many arms have replaceable and serviceable individual components, many still require the replacement of the entire arm. Below are signs of when a replacement control arm may be needed:

Suspension Control Arm Failure Symptoms
  • Play in suspension joints where these arms meet the subframe and/or knuckle
  • Buckling noise emanating from the suspension
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Inability to properly align vehicle
  • Shutter or vibration coming from the steering wheel at highway speed
  • Wandering or pulling sensation from side to side felt on the steering wheel

Time Will Tell
On review, the control arm has quality control markings and is identical to the OEM control arm. The ball joint "feels" good but time will tell. The grease boot clips are tight. I was please to see a new ball joint bolt and nut included with the arm. Starting to feel confident in TRW QA...but when I opened the package for the left arm...no bolt/nut included. I'm not expecting to get OEM 100K miles from these. I'd be happy with 40K.

(w124) 1995 e3e0
trw was stamped on the back of the old o.e control arms ..got these and they fit correctly , had to make sure these did not have the wings on the sides of the ball joint head because those control arms don't fit the late 94/95 years and will scratch ur rotors.. good price and came fast very happy

Fits and works
The part fit as it should and the vehicle (1995 E320) aligned as needed afterward.
