Product Information

For vehicles with Sport Suspension

Depending on driving conditions, by 50,000 miles your shock absorbers performance will begin to degrade. By 80,000 miles they normally require replacement in pairs. If you notice the following symptoms, shock absorber replacement should be considered:

  • Bouncy ride
  • Irregular tire wear
  • Poor steering response
  • Braking instability
  • Fluid leaking from the shock body

When the suspension system is working optimally, it will distribute force on the tires contact patches in a way that maximizes contact and performance. Worn shocks will increase dive and weight transfer and affect wheel alignment.

Suspension Strut Assembly

If your ride feels a little bouncy or you can feel clunks in the suspension while it's going over bumps it is likely due to worn strut assemblies and shock absorbers. The purpose of the strut assembly is it acts as a central pivot point for the suspension while housing the coil spring. It also dampens the compression and rebound of the coil spring as the suspension moves up and down. When replacing suspension components it is highly recommended to replace them in pairs.

Suspension Strut Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Noise over bumps
  • Abnormal tire wear
  • Vehicle wandering while driving
  • Poor Steering response
  • Poor Handling
  • Harsh ride

About Sachs

ZF Sachs AG, also known as Fichtel & Sachs was founded in Schweinfurt in 1895 and was a well-known German family business. At its last point as an independent company, the company name was Fichtel & Sachs AG. In 1997, the automotive supplier was taken over by Mannesmann and renamed Mannesmann Sachs AG. As of 2001, Sachs belonged to ZF Friedrichshafen as a subsidiary company ZF Sachs AG. In 2011, ZF Sachs, like other Group subsidiaries, was legally merged with ZF Friedrichshafen AG and the independent business units integrated into the ZF divisions. Sachs has since become a brand of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

Sachs is a trusted brand of the ZF family, which includes Lemforder, TRW, Boge, Stabilus, ZF parts and Sachs Performance. All divisions are well respected within their automotive specialty as they are all OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to car brands like Audi, Porsche, BMW, Volvo and more. Sachs specializes in shock absorbers, struts and clutches, with FCP Euro stocking many solutions based on your needs, be it an OE replacement or a higher performance clutch, shock or strut. All Sachs parts are built to meet or exceed the OEM specifications, this provides confidence and value when choosing Sachs over a Genuine part.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
hey I saw your answer saying these are not adjustable. I noticed today that they are adjustable. there are 11 height settings, but it must be set before installing the spring. I used a pick and moved the ring down until the height matched my old strut
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Apologies for the confusion - they are adjustable in this sense, yes, however not conventionally adjustable as to how we think of coilovers, generally adjustable suspension. It is not feasible to disassemble the strut everytime to simply adjust ride height.
Question Posted by Alwin
Are these shocks adjustable because I replaced both the fronts? It has been sitting higher than usual for the past 2 months.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No, they are not.
Question Posted by David
Why does fitment indicate both standard for base suspension and in bold sport suspension? Is this for 4matic, part says it fits my 4matic?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This will not fit your 4MATIC.
Question Posted by Paul
Is this part comes in a pair (left and right) or single?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is a single shock absorber.
