Product Information

Depending on driving conditions, by 50,000 miles your shock absorbers performance will begin to degrade. By 80,000 miles they normally require replacement in pairs. If you notice the following symptoms, shock absorber replacement should be considered:

  • Bouncy ride
  • Irregular tire wear
  • Poor steering response
  • Braking instability
  • Fluid leaking from the shock body

When the suspension system is working optimally, it will distribute force on the tires contact patches in a way that maximizes contact and performance. Worn shocks will increase dive and weight transfer and affect wheel alignment.

WARNING: Proposition 65 information
Suspension Shock Absorber

If your suspension is feeling "bouncy" or "loose" it can likely be attributed to blown or worn shock absorbers. The purpose of shock absorbers is to dampen the recoil of the coil spring as your travel over dips and bumps in the road.

Suspension Shock Absorber Failure Symptoms
  • Noise over bumps
  • Squeaks
  • Leaks
  • Poor Handling
  • Harsh ride

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Anthony
The nut goes onto the bolt very tightly. I am worried there is something wrong with the nut-bolt. I use wrenches to get bolt turned through the nut. When I remove the but and bolt are really warm....is this normal for this shock absorber hardware?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The lower bolt uses an oval self locking nut, this could be normal. You will want to check the integrity of the threads to determine if there is an issue
