Product Information

Depending on driving conditions, by 50,000 miles your shock absorbers performance will begin to degrade. By 80,000 miles they normally require replacement in pairs. If you notice the following symptoms, shock absorber replacement should be considered:

  • Bouncy ride
  • Irregular tire wear
  • Poor steering response
  • Braking instability
  • Fluid leaking from the shock body

When the suspension system is working optimally, it will distribute force on the tires contact patches in a way that maximizes contact and performance. Worn shocks will increase dive and weight transfer and affect wheel alignment.

WARNING: Proposition 65 information
Suspension Shock Absorber

If your suspension is feeling "bouncy" or "loose" it can likely be attributed to blown or worn shock absorbers. The purpose of shock absorbers is to dampen the recoil of the coil spring as your travel over dips and bumps in the road.

Suspension Shock Absorber Failure Symptoms
  • Noise over bumps
  • Squeaks
  • Leaks
  • Poor Handling
  • Harsh ride

Shocks for 98 C280!
My car had been pulling RIGHT for several years, but I could never get it aligned to stop the pull, even with new tires and a couple of tire rotations. A closer inspection of suspension revealed a burst/leaking shock on passenger front, and the start of seeping on the driver front. I have an acquaintance who is an MB Master Tech, and he is also a Vo-Tech instructor at the local high school. My 'Sabrina' was a test bed for diagnosis, and repair, for one of his early class segments, this fall. With the Bilsteins in hand, and lower ball joints as part of the replacement process, my car rides more solidly, doesn't pull to right, nor left, but does bounce-out when going over some road-cracks and mis-matched pavement. It's like a new car. The rears will be later, in 2023! Thanks FCPEuro for the assist and the parts!
