Product Information

Engine Intake Manifold

An engine intake manifold is a component that distributes the air–fuel mixture to the engine’s cylinders. It’s mounted on the top or side of the engine and is typically made of aluminum, plastic, or composite materials.

Engine Intake Manifold Failure Symptoms
  • Engine misfires or rough idle – uneven air delivery to cylinders causes unstable combustion.
  • Coolant or vacuum leaks – cracks or bad gaskets allow leaks that affect performance.
  • Check Engine Light (CEL) – triggered by intake air imbalance, leaks, or sensor issues.

About Genuine Mercedes

The original parts used by Mercedes Benz to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Mercedes Benz” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Mercedes Benz, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Mercedes Benz Dealership network.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Mercedes-Benz are not necessarily manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. No cause for concern, as Mercedes-Benz designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Mercedes-Benz for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Mercedes-Benz logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

A simplified direct replacement for any M272 engine!
Allows for much more airflow and top end power on the M272. The stock manifold is quite heat soaked and restrictive at high revs, not to mention unreliable. This single-stage fully plastic design is completely hollow and omits all vacuum actuated dual-stage flaps. It doesn't conduct as much heat in the engine V and allows colder, denser air to enter the cylinders. This swap requires the A2731410325 throttle body and A2731400118 intake elbow from the M273 V8. This 82mm throttle body is plug and play on the V6 and the intake elbow hooks up to the existing MAF. Orange rubberized gaskets are built right in to the manifold. The ECU won't throw a check engine light despite 3 wiring harness connectors related to the intake manifold being unplugged. Without a good existing tune or custom one after the swap, you might notice loss of low end torque due to the absence of flaps optimized for lower RPMs. Much more "pull" at higher revs!

Question Posted by Manuel
So I have an 2006 SLK 280 (M272). I’ve read on a forum about your C300 track car (also M272, also same engine displacement as my SLK 280) that you have installed this particular intake manifold on your C300. My two questions are: 1. Is there any engine codes after the installment? 2. Did you guys notice ANY (little or significant) power gains or change in mpg?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Change in MPG was not tracked vs the standard manifold although we are typically one of the more fuel efficient cars on the track. The use of this manifold allowed us to tune for the sustained high rpm track usage and the engine computer will detect the lack of tumble flap operation, secondary air, and any of the other non essential components that we deleted from the car.
