Product Information

The most common fuel pump failure symptoms include stalling, no starts or hard starts, and momentary power loss during steady state driving. Factors that decrease fuel pump performance include dirt or restrictions from fuel filters, corroded fuel pump harness connections, and issues with the fuel pump control system such as the FSCU/Engine computer/fuel pressure relay etc. When replacing your fuel pump, we also recommend replacing your fuel filter fuel pump relay (where applicable).

May require 2115400700 from suggested items below depending on model year.

Fuel Pump Module Assembly

A fuel pump module assembly is a complete unit, typically located inside the fuel tank, that delivers pressurized fuel to the engine. Unlike a standalone fuel pump, the module will sometimes include:

  • Electric fuel pump – draws and pressurizes fuel.
  • Fuel filter/strainer – removes debris and contaminants.
  • Fuel pressure regulator – maintains consistent fuel pressure.
  • Fuel level sending unit – communicates fuel level to the gauge.

Key functions:

  • Supplies pressurized fuel to the injectors for combustion.
  • Maintains proper fuel pressure under different driving conditions.
  • Provides accurate fuel level readings to the dashboard gauge.
Fuel Pump Module Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Engine stalling or no-start condition – pump fails to deliver fuel.
  • Loss of power or hesitation – weak fuel pressure causes poor acceleration.
  • Hard starting – requires long cranking before the engine runs.

About Genuine Mercedes

The original parts used by Mercedes Benz to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Mercedes Benz” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Mercedes Benz, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Mercedes Benz Dealership network.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Mercedes-Benz are not necessarily manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. No cause for concern, as Mercedes-Benz designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Mercedes-Benz for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Mercedes-Benz logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

Won’t fit 2003 oem fuel sender
You can’t buy this alone, it won’t fit the 2003 oem fuel sender. The fittings that goes to the fuel pumps are different styles. You need to buy both the sender/filter and the pumps.

Mercedes Fuel Pump Assembly
My pump failed on me after filling up car at a gas station. This main pump had failed, due to connector melting the top of pump plastic cover and essentially driving a hole right through. I was able to DIY fix using gas resistant epoxy however the sender unit had also failed. Although you can technically replace internal pumps and filters, the fact the plastic casing had deteriorated so much it wasn't worth it. Dealer wanted almost double price for parts and another $1500-2000 for install. I purchased both this part and sender unit from FCP knowing they had best pricing, and Lifetime Warranty. Considering original pump lasted 16 years...lets just hope FCP is still carrying part until then :D. Do not forget to purchase associated gaskets and the updated wiring harness/loom to attach to existing connections since they updated plug with new part.

Questions & Answers

Question Posted by a customer
This is NOT a direct drop in. Made 6 separate calls to FCP trying to figure out why the hell this won't fit on my car and have yet to get an answer. Ordered both of the adapter harnesses and things still aren't connecting. Keep having people tell me they're going to talk to their "Mercedes Tech" and then never return my call or email. If I'd have known it was going to big this much of a headache getting FCP employees to help me figure this out I would've just ordered the upgrade from VRP.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Mercedes has updated this pump assembly and on early vehicles, it may require the replacement of the sender assembly on the opposite side of the tank as well as an additional harness. We are sorry that you were not able to receive a timely update regarding the fitment of this product to your vehicle.
Question Posted by a customer
So is this a complete OEM fuel sending unit assembly? Ready to be plugged in and go?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is a complete sending unit. Very early models (2003-2004) may require a factory jumper harness
