For Mercedes C-Class models produced in 2004, there was a split in production where the brake pad shape changed. You can determine if this kit fits your vehicle with the following criteria:
- Using your VIN Number if the 11th character is an "F" the number following it must be less than 660226.
- Using your VIN Number if the 11th character is an "A" the number following it must be less than 565688.
As an example:
- If your VIN number is WDBRF40J44 "F" 506812, this part WILL fit
- If your VIN number is WDB2030461 "F" 827866, this parts WILL NOT fit.

Unfortunately they don't last forever and are considered to be a major wear item which must be replaced before they completely wear out and damage the brake rotor costing you more in repairs. Pads seem great. Only thing is the wear sensor will not fit. Hole for sensor is too far inboard to line up sensor clip into the backing plate. See many people have issues with this also on AI search. Suggestions state to drill new hole in pad or tie wrap the sensor to the harness keeping it plugged into the connector but then the sensor will not tell you when the pad needs replacing prior to metal to metal contact
Just purchased these pads and installed them with new (front) EBC drilled and slotted rotors on my 2005 Mercedes Benz SL500 Standard roadster. I have put approx 100 miles on them and they are VERY NOISY. The front brakes an my R230 are fixed and not floating and I suspect it is because the pads are dragging on the rotors. So much it is unbearable when driving with the windows let alone top down. The noise can be heard while driving and is especially apparent as it reflects of of objects and is unbearable.
These brake pads are great. Stops well, noise free, and no more black dust on wheels.
Front pads were easy to install, and they fit perfect...

I just ordered a whole brake pad set for my 2003 Mercedes SL500. Akebonos have been fantastic in the past. However, when installing the front, I noticed that the hole drilled into the pad for the wear sensor post was not correctly located. Normally, this hole is close to the backing plate so the pad is effectively worn to min thickness before wearing into the sensor. My worn Mercedes brand pads have the hole MUCH closer. This one had the hole drilled nearly halfway into the pad. It’s so far away from the backing plate that the wear sensor sensor can’t be clipped into the plate. The pad is perfectly functional for now, so I just zip tied the wear sensor to the ABS cable since I have about 40k miles to figure it out. I would have exchanged them under your warranty but I’m afraid of getting the same thing back. I thought maybe the part was incorrectly crossed to this vehicle, but NO wear sensor should go off at the 60% wear point. I think it’s a manufacturing defect. Thoughts?
