Audi VW Coilover Kit - Sachs Performance 841500000301

These have been great overall after adding Tein spring silencers as the supplied flimsy silencers ripped off after a few thousand miles. ANother grip I have is that the rear stiffness adjustment has seized most likely due to dirt etc. I've tried everything including bathing them in Kroil etc. Trying to figure out now how to get just the two rear shocks as replacement.

Update on the previous review: I added some Tein silencers to the front coils that were binding and they have significantly reduced the noise in these coilovers. I'll leave the review at 4 stars until I get a chance to install the new spring Sachs is sending, but they really aren't horrible for a daily driver now.

Running these on a 17 GTI Sport. Build quality is excellent. Install is easier than OEM (struts are shorter.) I'm running them with the 034 bearings and street density mounts, not the camber plates (yet.) I'm running the height near the top of the allowable travel and I run front and rear shocks at the 5 setting (0 being softest, 20 being stiffest) and they are perfect for daily driving. Much better than the stock dampers and springs from a ride quality and control perspective, and smooths out the rough roads here in Northern Virginia (though nothing can smooth out the roads in DC and Maryland!) Ran the car at Summit Point Jefferson Circuit, and the suppleness really helped out on this fairly bumpy circuit, with 12 rear and 10 front feeling great. Running the freshly paved and smooth Summit Main Circuit this weekend I ran 20 front and rear and the car was amazing. I experimented between my normal daily 5 and the stiffest 20 and shaved a full 2 seconds off my best time on the stiffest setting. The car is very well planted, but transitions quickly and then settles just as quickly. Brake dive is reduced, too. Adjustment is really easy as the knobs are meaty and easy to rotate, even with the car on the ground. Now for the bad part - the kit uses progressive springs and the coils end up binding and popping. A lot. Really a lot. I've contacted Sachs USA and they say there is a new spring design that has been tested to address the problem and is in the process of manufacturing. They promised to send me the new springs as soon as they show up in country. I'll try to update this once I install the new springs. if they don't show up before the FCP 90 day return period, I'm not sure I'll keep these, though I'm reluctant to give up this sublime ride. For the record on the noise, I borescoped the springs during movement and got confirmation it was binding. I did try thrust sheets/thrust bearings and they didn't help :( I really want these to work out - I'd be gutted putting the stockers back on. They would be 5 stars except for the noise.
