This seal is designed to seal the drive flange to the differential. If your BMW's rear differential is leaking or is going to be rebuilt this seal will need to be replaced. Included with the seal is a lock ring to ensure the seal stays in place.

Output Shaft Seal - Corteco 23117518638 ordered, 19037088B is what it says on the boxes that shipped.
I am working on a 2011 Cooper, N16, 6 spd manual, Output Shaft Seal - Corteco 23117518638 ordered, 19037088B is what it says on the boxes that shipped. This Corteco Output Shaft Seal 19037088B is too large to fit in the axle seal cavity of the differential housing. Using a special seal alignment tool, that Corteco seal 19037088B absolutely will not fit in the differential axle seal cavity. It appears to have a ribbed poly outer seal instead of the common blue material usually found on the seating area of an engine or transmission seal. The seal cavity in the differential housing is 54.74 mm in diameter, the seal is 58,58 mm, way too large to fit in the seal cavity.

Just what I needed to stop my leak!
I traced a drip on my driveway to a leaking axle shaft seal on my transmission, so I ordered seals for both sides (different seals on each side) so I could just handle it in one shot. Thankfully FCP Euro has the seals I need to keep my trusty old R53 in top condition and stopped that irritating leak on my driveway. It's not too hard of a job and probably something you should do if you are simply replacing the CV axles as a preventative maintenance item.

good quality
No leaks so far. I did use some silicone grease for mounting in diff housing, and on the driveshaft to ease in there. The fit was snug and the quality of the seal looks very good to me.
