Water pumps on BMW engines are a common replacement item around 60,000 miles. It is important to make sure that your vehicles water pump is functioning correctly as any issues could result in over heating or serious engine damage.

Engine Water Pump

Your vehicles engine water pump is responsible for keeping coolant flowing through the engine. As water pumps get old the internal bearing can go bad causing noise and a coolant leak. A good indicator that your water pump is failing is if you see coolant leaking through the water pump "weep hole".

Engine Water Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Coolant leak through weep hole
  • Play at water pump pulley shaft indicating a bad bearing
  • Squeaking noise coming from pump at idle
  • Overheating conditions
  • Low coolant light on instrument cluster indicating a cooling system leak

Quality was great, no issues to install and has worked as expected with no leaks for atleast 1000 miles on a couple road trips. Used with the Lower temp thermostat (105c), works as described and the car runs cooler. Very happy with purchase and FCP as usual.

2000 bmw 540i
My car had been sitting for a while and the coolant was old and had rusted up really bad causing the water pump to lock up and damage my belts. This water pump was the perfect replacement no issues so far. It's not a hard job to do since I was already doing my belts and tensioners

First one arrived with a crimped down pipe on it, warrantied it, sent it back. Second one is in much better shape. Ask for extra packing when you order it and hopefully it won't arrive damaged.

GRAF Water Pump
After getting two boxed pumps that looked like they'd been used as soccer balls in the warehouse, the third arrived in its undamaged container so I felt good about using it. The other two will be returned.

I selected this pump for my 2000 BMW 740I for the competitive price .. Local supply chains were asking a ridiculous price which floored my budget.. I compared this item with my original pump and it measure exact dimensions....which meant nothing especially the volume of water pumped thru system wasnt compromised...
