A vapor canister (also called a charcoal canister) is part of a vehicle’s Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP). It contains activated charcoal that absorbs and stores fuel vapors from the gas tank. Later, these vapors are purged into the engine and burned during combustion, preventing them from escaping into the atmosphere.

• Check Engine Light (CEL) – often triggered by EVAP system error codes (like P0440–P0456).
• Fuel odor around the vehicle – strong smell of gasoline near the rear or undercarriage.
• Difficulty refueling – gas pump nozzle frequently clicks off due to vapor flow issues.

About VNE

VNE GmbH was founded in 2001 by Volker Natorp in Hamburg, Germany. Volker has a long, storied history in the automotive field. He began his career in the 1970s working for Wulf Gaertner and in the 1990s eventually branched out on his own to start his own sales repping agency.
