Perfect Replacement
Existing piece has been abused for years by the PO, no seal led to rusting the contacts, the screw mounting locations had been broken out, lights didn't work, light covers were so yellow and dirty any light that existed couldn't even get out. This piece was a perfect replacement. I dont think you'll ever get the painted cover off your old version without breaking it. The factory primer was good, everything fit together perfect. Small enough that you can get some spray can color match and easily go to town. Just remember to scuff up the primer before laying down your base.

BMW weak point
This trunk lid handle is too weak, you need to be careful. However this is a great replacement, too bad you need to paint it, but that is to be expected I suppose. I found a great source for touch up paint (in a rattle can) for these small projects. Look at 66autocolor . com, they custom mix paint colors and use SprayMax cans which provide a superior finish. This was kind of an expensive project but the restoration was worth it. Sure wish you could reuse the painted cover, but it will break on removal (mine did).

Car looks new again
Bought this because the original one cracked along the bottom where it screws in to the trunk lid. Painted it and attached it and it looks beautiful.

I noticed this comes in three pieces. The underside is glued to the outer on my factory setup. Will this need the glue as well to complete the assembly?

The underside would have an adhesive applied to the back foam section, you can see the protective film along the bottom piece. You peal that off the join the bottom section to the handle. So the adhesive will be included.
