didn't need part, but was delivered quickly, primed and ready to paint . install would've been very easy.

The description incl. “actuation unit.” Does this include both the switch as well as the solenoid to open the rear hatch on e53? Also, I assume that it’s pre-primed? Finally, can the fiberglass bow from the current unit be transferred to this?

Yes, this would be a completer unit which releases the latch mechanism. It is sold pre-primed as listed. In regards to the bow being transferable it's hard to say for sure if it can be safely removed from the original unit and then installed on this one.
