A Fuel Tank Strap is a metal support bracket that holds the fuel tank securely to the underside of a vehicle. Most vehicles use two straps (sometimes more) to cradle the tank and keep it from shifting, sagging, or falling while driving. They are typically made of steel and are bolted to the chassis.

• Sagging or loose fuel tank – the tank may hang lower than usual or appear unstable.
• Clunking or rattling noises – metal-on-metal or tank movement sounds from under the car.
• Visible rust or cracks on straps – corrosion weakens the straps, leading to possible breakage.
