The S54 engine requires valve adjustments approximately every 30,000 miles. This valve adjustment feeler kit features feeler gauges sized from .20 to .40mm for perfect valve adjustments every time.

Included sizes: 0.15mm, 0.20mm, 0.25mm, 0.30mm, 0.35mm, 0.40mm, and 0.45mm.

Solid quality kit meant for the S54 engine, my only issue with these are the included .40/.45mm shims which aren't necessary due to the go/no-go system. Something nicer to have would've been 4 gauges to mark the proper service range for Intake (.18m and .23mm) and Exhaust (.28 and .33mm) to guarantee that you are in spec. I ended up buying a cheap set of feeler gauges, removed the ones I needed and bent them to match this set and they worked great to stack with this set so I could get .01mm increments, aside from the difficulty I had with the differences in overall handle size and the thinner gauges getting bent occasionally. Overall still worth it and helped me get the job done.

They really are correct
At first it seems like this set is wrong for the S54 but in reality it is correct. Spec for the intake is .18-.23 all you need are the .15, .20 and .25 feelers. If .20 fits and .25 doesn't, it is almost definitely in spec and .24 isn't anything really to fret about but you can still figure that out (with a little practice you can even feel it). If .15 doesn't fit then it is too tight and if .25 fits it is too lose. If for example you can't fit the .15 so you add a new shim that is .04 thinner. Now you can fit the .15 but still can't fit the .20 you know it is in that range it has to now be .15-.19. So you swap out for a shim another .04 thinner (.08 under original). If you can now fit the .20 but not the .25, then you know that with the previous shim it had to be .16-.19 which means your new shim puts you at .20-.23 so you are in spec. The same works on the exhaust side using .25, .30, and .35 feelers.

Great tool at a lovely price
I didn't even get these to work on a BMW. They're a great set of sizes for Volvo B230 motors and likely others. The 90 degree bend is very nice for valve lash measurements (obviously).

BMW S54 Valve Adjustment Feeler Gauge Set
I purchased my E46 M3 last April I am still getting acquainted with the differences of the S54 motor to my long history with the M50, S50, and S52 motors. I started gathering what I thought I needed to do my first valve adjustment last August and just got around to doing the valve adjustment. With any procedure having the correct tools always helps. So purchasing the recommended “BMW S54 Valve Adjustment Feeler Gauge Set” for $25.99 to expectedly give you everything needed to measure the valve clearance seemed reasonable. If you are not familiar with the S54 valve adjustment range: • Exhaust range is from .28mm to .33mm • Intake range is .18mm to .23mm If it is within this range all is good and no adjustment is needed. My “BMW S54 Valve Adjustment Feeler Gauge Set” came with the following feeler gauges: .15mm, .20mm, .25mm, .30mm, .35mm, .35mm, .40mm, and .45mm. WTF! All but two of the feeler gauges are outside of the target range of the valve adjustment? Is this some type of bad German joke? On the plus side, the quality of the tools and material was what I expected.
