If your BMW's ride feels a little bouncy or you can feel clunks in the suspension while it's going over bumps it is likely due to worn strut assemblies and shock absorbers. The purpose of the strut assembly is it acts as a central pivot point for the front suspension while housing the coil spring. It also dampens the compression and rebound of the coil spring as the suspension moves up and down.

Stiff Shocks
These are very durable. I know since I mounted them on my X3 for a trip to Tuktoyaktuk in Northern Canada, along with a set of 17" rims and A/T tires. Very rough dirt roads in the hot sun all day for weeks, and these B6s seem to get more composed and comfortable as the speeds increase. I never sensed fade and they protected me from unexpected potholes at 90kms. But the reason I wanted to write this review is to say that at low speeds, they are quite stiff on anything but flat pavement. So they feel very stiff but they do take corners dead flat, almost no body roll and are great at high speed on a highway and could handle very high levels or cornering speed; I felt completely in control. However, around town they were honestly too stiff for my taste. I went back to stock shocks afterwards, so it was a bit of a waste. Conclusion: In my opinion, B6s are bad for a daily driver, good for a very high performance / high speed setup on or off road.
