Only for use with updated style tension struts, will not work on original tension struts due to difference in ball joint size

Ball joints are a critical piece of your BMW's suspension. They allow for the suspension to articulate as the vehicle travels over the road. With age and high mileage ball joints can easily deteriorate which causes suspension noises as well as play affecting handling performance.

FCP recommends replacing ball joints in matched pairs for the best service life and performance.

Suspension Ball Joint

If there is play in the front suspension between the control arm and wheel spindle your ball joint will need to be replaced. This joint is a critical connection point between the wheel spindle and the lower control arm.

Great fit the first time
Great so far already got 8k on the set. Had to replace after 165k on stock ones, washington roads murdered what the old ones had left.

Good part ... good luck.
Great part, totally fixed the wobble in the front. However, I would recommend not attempting to install these yourself unless you don't live in the rust belt or have the proper equipment. I couldn't get the old ball joints out so I had to take it to the shop where they used an air chisel.

Is there a ball joint that I can use to keep the original tension struts? They are in good condition and would hate to change them if I can avoid it.

Use only with updated tension struts? I recently purchased an 05 x3 2.5L and located the clunking noise coming from a loose ball joint. I wanted to see if I could just replace the ball joints with this item.

Unfortunately will not work with the original tension strut, on the recommended parts feature you will see the left and right control arms that would need to be purchased along with the ball joints.
