Product Information

Includes bearing

This strut mount creates a pivot point and a secure mounting point for your BMW's front strut. It is not uncommon for the bearing to go bad with high mileage. For this reason, we recommend replacing the strut mounts when installing new front struts.

Suspension Strut Mount

Strut mounts are a frequent wear component on vehicles with MacPherson suspension systems. These mounts secure the top of the strut to the chassis and serve as a pivot point for steering. Over time, especially with higher mileage, the strut bearing can degrade, leading to a rougher feel and reduced steering performance. Additionally, the rubber in the mount may crack, causing looseness and other issues. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, we recommend replacing the strut mounts whenever installing new strut assemblies.

Suspension Strut Mount Failure Symptoms
  • Clunking or knocking noises: A worn strut mount may cause clunking or knocking sounds, especially when driving over bumps or rough roads
  • Excessive vibration: If the rubber in the mount is cracked or deteriorating, it may lead to increased vibrations felt through the steering wheel or chassis
  • Poor steering response: A faulty strut mount can affect the vehicle's steering alignment, leading to difficulty in turning or reduced steering responsiveness
  • Uneven tire wear: When the strut mount fails, it can alter the suspension geometry, causing uneven or premature tire wear
  • Increased body roll or sway: A worn mount can compromise suspension stability, leading to more pronounced body roll during cornering

About Meyle HD

Meyle High Durability

MEYLE HD products are technically superior to the OE part, whilst the reinforced and optimized design and high-quality materials make them more durable and reliable. As a result, they simply last longer and often outperform OEM parts.

The MEYLE HD brand is a subsidiary of Wulf Gaertner, a firm established in 1958 that at the time just exported and traded original equipment spare parts on a small scale. Today Meyle offers over 17,000 top-grade automotive spare parts including the "MEYLE HD" line, not to be mistaken for the "Meyle" line. While Meyle is a quality aftermarket parts option, Meyle HD goes further than the original OEM part by determining the root cause of failure and improving the design to make it more durable. Whether they increase the size of a ball joint, re-design its socket, or add in high performance synthetic grease, you can be sure that Meyle has done their due diligence to improve the replacement components for your European Vehicle.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
Does this part have a 16mm strut bore hole? I have bilstein hd struts in my 89 e32 735il with 16mm strut shaft.. (15.9mm)
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
These were designed as OE equivalents based on the fitment these strut mounts worked on all north american models. Looking at Bilstein there is no information about any clearance issues or shaft problems. These are a direct bolt on.
Question Posted by a customer
Is the mount nut a 19 or a 22
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The size of nut you're referring to sounds like you're looking for info on the strut piston shaft nut. Unfortunately, the size of the nut is going to vary based on the manufacturer/style of strut currently installed in your vehicle. We don't really have a way to confirm this for you.
