NOTES: Engineered to compliment lowering springs or factory springs. KONI Special Active dampers fall into the sweet spot between performance and comfort. As an evolution of the award-winning FSD (Frequency Select Damper), KONI Special Active utilizes KONI's own patented technology to allow the damper quick reactions to cancel out sharp jounces such as potholes and expansion joints, while simultaneously maintaining a firm and sporty ride. It does so completely through proprietary internal valving and contains no electronics. If you are looking for a sporty European ride without sacrificing comfort over rougher roads, KONI Special Active is a great choice.
If your ride feels a little bouncy or you can feel clunks in the suspension while it's going over bumps it is likely due to worn strut assemblies and shock absorbers. The purpose of the strut assembly is it acts as a central pivot point for the suspension while housing the coil spring. It also dampens the compression and rebound of the coil spring as the suspension moves up and down. When replacing suspension components it is highly recommended to replace them in pairs.

Is this a factory ride height strut? Does it lower or raise ride height?

8745-1014L is a stock-length damper, not a “shortened/lowering-specific” shock—but it can be used with mild lowering springs. Spring perch -> knucle/lower connection point generally never change because of fitment with wheel arch design and wheel size etc. Shocks/struts assemblies for lowering applications will have a shorter shaft travel length for corrected damping with the altered right height provided by lowering springs, but do not lower a vehicle themselves.
