Product Information

The BMW S65 engine will go down in history as one of the most engaging and pure production-car engines ever made. However, at the time of their production, BMW thought no different when styling the E9X engine bay - using plastic covers and galvanized steel grey bolts. We're here to recognize and compliment the clean design of these engines, with stainless valve cover hardware designed in-house.

Included in this kit is a set of 24 316 stainless bolts and captured sleeves, as well as upgraded NRW Design silicone grommets. If you're also looking to replace your ground-point bolts, you'll need two (2) of them, available here

Note: Torque to the original valve cover bolt spec by hand (6Nm). The use of impact guns may damage the hardware finish. Due to the nature of the valve cover and gasket, galvanic corrosion shouldn't be of concern when using these bolts. If you are concerned about galvanic corrosion, thread sealant or anti-seize can be used.

Which way do the grommets slide on? They are different on top and bottom. And what about the grounding bolts that are on each stock valve cover??

The grommets on the original hardware are installed just like the factory ones. The flat portion sits under the flat head of the sleeve and the part of the grommet that has a protrusion sits in the valve cover itself. Compare the original hardware of the vehicle and you will see the orientation.

My S65 has 26 valve cover bolts. How come there are only 24 in the kit? Can an additional 2 be ordered?

Two of the valve cover screws are grounding points for the ignition coils. We did not change the design of those screws because they are used as ground points. The other 24 screws (which is what this kit consists of), the two grounding screws, and 26 grommets is essentially covered with this kit.

There are 26 screws in total for both valve covers. 24 of the screws are of the style included in this kit. 2 of the screws are grounding points for the ignition coils. We chose not to redesign or modify the ground screws and you will simply reuse what you already have.
