Product Information

The SPEC Stage 2 PLUS Clutch Kit features a multi-friction disc in a full faced configuration with carbon semi-metallic on one side and Kevlar on the other. Bridging the gap between stage 2 and stage 3, the 2+ offers drivability and engagement quality characteristic of the stage 2, but with a 15-20% higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, autocross, road racing, pulling, rallye and drift.

Transmission Clutch Kit

Clutch kits are made up of two main components, the clutch friction disc and the clutch pressure plate. Both of these components transfer torque from the flywheel to the transmission. There are several different types of manual transmission clutches in terms of operation but they all perform the same basic function.

Clutches are a pure wear item. In some cases you may have the option to replace a pressure plate or clutch disc separately but its always best to replace both at the same time along with other component such as the rear main seal, pilot bearing, release bearing, and shifter parts.

Transmission Clutch Kit Failure Symptoms

This clutch
Installed with OE Luk flywheel on 335xi. Pedal feels like OE clutch. Smooth and positive engagement. Kevlar side makes a sound of rotating fabric quietly hissing under engagement, very cool. Good match for the power limits of the DMFW. have broken clutch in now and very impressed. Note: no spline lube included

Yes, all needed items are included minus a flywheel. This kit can be used with the stock dual mass flywheel, but if your current unit has any kind of warping or heat damage it should certainly be replaced at the same time. OE dual mass flywheels have a tendency to begin to lock up around 100k miles.

This kit is designed to only work with the components in this kit accordingly. It is not recommended to mix and match parts not included in this kit.

SPEC does not provide a specification for clutch kits designed to be used with the factory dual mass flywheel. Ultimate the torque holding capacity is limited by the factory dual mass flywheel. The stage 2 + designed for their billet flywheels is rated for 545 ft lbs of torque at the crank, realistically because of the dual mass flywheel this clutch is going to realistically be less than 500 ft lbs of torque.
