Imagine my surprise when I went to diagnose the new clunk coming from the rear of my wife's 2007 X3 only to find the guts of the factory shock absorber were now on the outside! These Bildtein HD shocks were a direct replacement and included the needed bumpstops and dust boots saving even more $. Replacing both shocks was incredibly quick and easy. The X3 now rides smoothly and handles as it should.

How to determine which shock to order for the standard versus 'sport' (Position: Rear, w/ Sports suspension settings (S226A))? I have the standard suspension and do NOT want the Sports suspension.

As displayed in the fitment guide, this rear shock applies to vehicles with standard suspension and sport suspension. This is not unusual for most non Genuine shocks for BMW's (particularly rear shocks). All this means is the damping of this shock is suitable for both suspension options. If you have standard suspension this shock will be fine. However, note that Bilstein 4600's are a performance shock with more aggressive damping than factory style replacements just as Sachs or Bilstein B4's. If you install this shock you will also need to order matching front struts as well.
