Product Information

Connecting rod bearings ride on a thin layer of oil on the crankshaft. For many reasons, connecting rod bearings can wear over time resulting in incorrect engine clearances. While this clearance change may not be immediately noticeable it can result in problems later on including oil pressure problems or potential engine failure. Typically, very worn rod bearings will make themselves known via a knocking noise that changes with engine speed.

Generally, rod bearings do not wear unless there are lubrication problems via a bad oil pump or incorrect oil/neglect. Usually, rod bearings are replaced when engines are rebuilt.
