This OE offering from VNE is a replacement rear window key button for your BMW wagon. This component of your BMW's rear glass gives you quick easy access to the rear glass on your BMW wagon without needing to open the entire hatch. This component is part of the rear wiper assembly.

About VNE

VNE GmbH was founded in 2001 by Volker Natorp in Hamburg, Germany. Volker has a long, storied history in the automotive field. He began his career in the 1970s working for Wulf Gaertner and in the 1990s eventually branched out on his own to start his own sales repping agency. During that time, he represented TMD Friction (Pagid/Textar) and managed all of the North American sales for them and eventually added Schaeffler Automotive to his roster.

Great replacement
Works great, this is easily a 5-10 minute job if you do not live in an area that heavily salts their roads. The original button had metal ring that was completely seized with corrosion, making a water tight fit that Kroil would not even penetrate. If you like in the great salted north, plan on taking awhile as you will have to drill or otherwise cut off the original button without breaking the glass. New part was made in Malta and all plastic, so no risk of corrosion seizing like the original

Fixed my touring rear window
The rear hatch window on my 325XI touring started randomly popping itself open. Once it popped open, it would continually try to pop itself open about every 30 seconds or so. Eventually this led to the battery going dead over the course of a day or two. I took the switch apart and noticed it was filled with water. Ordered this new switch and everything is back in order. It wasn’t terribly difficult to install. However, if you live in a climate like mine in the Midwest where you have salt you can have a lot of corrosion to deal with while getting the old switch off. Using penetrating oil, plastic pry tools and patience though I was able to get the job done. You do need to remove the rear cover of the window mechanism on the back hatch though in order to get to the plug. It was pretty easy.
