Your X3's radiator has a single, yet important task, to keep your BMW running cool. A radiator is a simple component. It takes hot coolant in the inlet side through the radiator core where it transfers heat to the air that travels through the radiator core. The coolant that comes out the other side is significantly cooler and will re-enter the engine through the thermostat. With age the radiator end tanks can fail causing leaks. Older radiators can also develop internal blockage from poor maintenance.

Its critical to replace coolant with OE approved Coolant/Antifreeze otherwise the radiator can crack or fail prematurely. The anti-corrosive formula will help to protect against rust and has an extended life compared to some aftermarket options. The coolant system in your BMW protects your engine against excessive heat which can lead to added wear or engine failure in extreme cases. Protect the engine In your BMW X3 with Genuine BMW coolant (1 Gal).

Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.
