Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

Radiator Failure Symptoms
  • Overheating
  • Coolant Leak
  • Cracking
  • Bent Fins
  • Clogged Fins caused by debris

About Mahle Behr

Mahle Behr GmbH & Co. KG is a German corporation active in the automobile industry, headquartered in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. It is a specialist for automotive air conditioning and engine cooling systems. Mahle began in 1920 when pistons made of heavy gray cast iron were being used in internal combustion engines for automobiles and there was a need for a new design. The Mahle brothers countered this trend by producing light-alloy pistons at their small, newly established company however the technology was still finicky and problems come up frequently. They soon determined that they needed to come up with a solution to keep dirt and dust out of the engine so they eventually developed air and oil filters as well. Their perseverance paid off and the light-alloy pistons began to take over the market. Today, half of all automobiles produced worldwide contain MAHLE components. MAHLE offers an extensive range of parts for everyone including pistons, cylinder liners, piston ring sets, bearings, assemblies, valves, valve train components, and air, oil, fuel, and cabin air filters. Their catalog and online database of aftermarket engine components is an indispensable reference. In early 2016, Stuttgart-based MAHLE GmbH increased its holding in the Behr Group from 36.85 percent to approximately 51 percent with the acquisition of all shares in the BWK GmbH holding company. The company now goes by Mahle-Behr.

Replaced this
2006 330ci automatic, had the South African Mahle radiator in it when I bought it. The end tanks started leaking recently so replaced it with a Nissens. Not bad though, the date stamp on the radiator said 2013, so about 12 years before it went out. Can't say anything about the install or fitment, but it did work fine, came out easy, and didn't fall out for 10+ years so it can't be that bad. Unless the design changed.

No Adjustment Screw for Automatics
The plastic adjustment screw that contains the drain plug on my original radiator was old and brittle. It broke when I removed it from the old radiator. The new radiator does not come with one (the Nissens brand does). Also if I buy a new adjustment screw, the hole it screws into for the Mahle is not compatible. I have no place to buy an adjustment screw now to fit this new radiator and get my car back on line. Would give it 0-stars if I could. What a disaster over a $1 part Nissen includes with their radiator. Bought this one because it was "OE" but it's not. Not sure what to do now.

No good
Lower hose doesn’t seal properly, feels loose and cheap going on. Tried multiple hoses always with the same result

Package Damaged in transport and dents are in the radiator
An extra $150 in foam would have prevented a return. Who the hell is packing for you guys, Larry, Moe, Curly?

Question Posted by a customer
Just bought this radiator for a 2004 325xi automatic. I need the adjustment screw that goes into this Mahle radiator as my old one was brittle plastic and broke (bmw part# 17111437360). Can I get one that fits the Mahle brand radiator. Mahle's radiator has a screw in with threads. The original and the adjustment screw you sell does not go in with threads. (!!!!). Seems I need a Mahle brand adjustment screw which they don't sell! Very frustrated with this radiator.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
If you received a radiator without an adjustment screw or are having issues installing the radiator because of this I would highly recommend calling our emailing our service team regarding your order so we can further assist.
Question Posted by Tobin
Does this come with o rings and a drain plug for auto and manual transmission
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
If you're speaking of the hose connections, the o-rings generally come with the hoses themselves. This will include a drain plug and is only meant for automatics.
