A critical component of your BMW's cooling system

Your BMW's radiator is a critical component of the cooling system and must be replaced if it has developed a leak or is damaged. Radiators cool off hot coolant by using air flow over the surface of the radiator core. Road debris is also known to damage the cooling fins where they fall off reducing cooling ability.

Please note that you may need to order part number 11537609944 if you have not upgraded to the newer style radiator.

Nice Quality, Easy Install

My E70 blew out an end tank and had a slow leak, so it was time to replace. I decided to go with the Nissens as the price was great, and with the FCP lifetime replacement deal I'm not on the hook if it fails sooner than it should. I used this radiator to replace an old-style, which had the extra port for the oil cooler hose and the two drain plugs. As a result, I needed to buy the new oil cooler-water pump hose in conjunction with this radiator. Before or during the radiator swap, make sure you inspect your hoses as this is a really convenient time to swap them out for new ones, and the hoses really aren't super expensive. Do it before they break and save yourself a headache. The Nissens includes three new gaskets for the three water hoses that connect to it. If you're keeping any of your old hoses, this is a nice addition to help ensure you get a good seal and aren't using worn out gaskets. I was replacing two of the three hoses that connect to the radiator, so I only used the fresh gasket on the single hose that I retained. You may elect to install the Nissens gaskets even if you are using new hoses - I'll add another review if my new hoses start to leak and I need to install those gaskets. The part looks high-quality overall - there were two small sections of radiator fins that protruded slightly from the rest, but that's being a total nitpicker. It looks great otherwise. Fitment seemed just like OE, no problems installing. In fact, once I had the old unit out, the install of the new one was very speedy - maybe took 30 minutes, and I do not hurry under the hood. To help your hoses along, use some of your new coolant to lubricate the gaskets before installing the hose. This will help it slide into place and prevent any binding of the gasket that could lead to a failure later on. There's a small vent hose that runs from the expansion tank to the top of the driver's side of the radiator that uses a crimp-style clamp to attach to the radiator. I elected to replace it with a BMW 12-15mm hose clamp for easier install and potential removal down the road. All in all, seems like a great piece. I'll add another review if I encounter any problems with this radiator. Don't forget to bleed your coolant before starting the car!
