Product Information

From power steering pump to steering rack, a common source of power steering leaks

Your power steering hose carries high pressure hydraulic fluid, thus it should be replaced if it shows signs of cracking or is leaking. When changing these hoses, it may be a good opportunity to flush the system and use new power steering fluid.

Power Steering Pressure Hose

The power steering pressure hose is a high-pressure line that connects the power steering pump to the steering gear or rack. It carries pressurized power steering fluid from the pump to the steering mechanism, allowing for easier steering by amplifying the force exerted by the driver on the steering wheel.

Power Steering Pressure Hose Failure Symptoms
  • Fluid Leaks: A common sign of failure is visible leaking of power steering fluid around the pressure hose or its connections. This can appear as puddles or wet spots under the vehicle
  • Increased Steering Effort: If the pressure hose is damaged or obstructed, it may result in reduced fluid flow to the steering gear, making it more difficult to turn the steering wheel
  • Unusual Noises: Whining, groaning, or hissing sounds may occur when turning the steering wheel, indicating air in the system due to a leak or that the pump is working harder than usual

About Rein

Founded in 2007, CRP Automotive introduced the Rein Automotive line of OE-quality replacement parts to the aftermarket. And in just two short years, Rein Automotive has become very popular among both warehouse distributors and professional repair technicians. Rein is the German word for “pure”, and has come to be synonymous with quality in the automotive aftermarket. A true dealer alternative.

The Rein brand includes a growing number of “better than OE” parts for selected applications. These parts address known weaknesses and premature failures of factory parts. Many of these replacement and service solutions have been developed with the help of our Innovation Council, a hand-picked group of experienced professional repair technicians and shop owners throughout North America.

All Rein Automotive OE-quality parts are backed by the CRP Automotive standard, and are backed with a ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification. Each year, CRP Automotive ships thousands of Rein Automotive brand products. And with widespread NAFTA market distribution through strategically placed warehouses in Cranbury, New Jersey and Puebla, Mexico - OE-quality products like Rein Automotive are delivered to customers both faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.

In 2017 Rein partnered with FCP Euro in competing a W204 C300 AER car for the 2017 season. The partnership focused FCP Euro to dive deep into the Rein catalog offering, and hundreds of new products were added and integrated into our catalog. Hundreds of new packages were created not only using the full part pine up of Rein products, but also the entire family of CRP products like Pentosin.

Rein is also an innovative brand, winning numerous trade awards — including multiple new product innovation awards at the annual AAPEX trade show.

Working fine, but didn't exactly fit like OEM
Install was quick and easy and all washers and the o ring were included which was helpful (wish I'd seen that before I purchased extras). My only complaint is that part of the hose is now resting up against the oil pan. I tried loosening and reinstalling, but couldn't avoid it touching the oil pan. I'm not sure if it's because it is shorter than the original or the bend in the metal portion is not as pronounced to get it away from the engine. That said, I've now driven it over 3000 miles since replacement and no more leaks or issues. I just hope it lasts and doesn't deteriorate quicker at the section touching the oil pan.

Rein Returns..
Purchased this as a full system replacement, since I had developed the dreaded power steering fluid leak through out the whole system. I was happy with the superb price FCP listed this Rein product for. The task was easy to do and I was glad that the hose assembly came with the small O-Ring attached that goes to the power steering pump. I had bought one now knowing if the picture was an accurate depiction or not. Anyhow, I replaced the old leaking hose refilled with fresh CH-11S fluid and no more leaks, so I will continue to utilize Rein products as a suitable and well priced alternative replacement.

Question Posted by a customer
I understand the veh came with the LF-20 power steering pump, that is now known to shear off at the main shaft. It was replaced by an improved entirely new design, the LF-30, solving this tendency, however- it has completely diff. attachment positions; and requires a diff. power steering pressure hose and part number. Is this correct? What is the matching hose- part number for the LF-30 pump you sell? I ordered the LF-30 to discover i could not install it without replacing this hose as well.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Earlier LF20 pumps had the issue pertaining to the pump shaft sheering. That's an issue that has since been fixed. There are variances in a few of the power steering hoses between the LF20 and LF30 pumps. The LF30 pump needs p/n 32416764725 for the pressure hose from the pump to the steering rack. Everything else on the system remains the same.
