BMW PCV Breather System Kit (M52 S52) - M52PCV2A
  • Pcv kit1 2

For BMW models with M52 and S52 engines, not for M52TU engines

If your BMW is suffering from mystery oil and vacuum leaks there is a really good chance your PCV system has failed. This is a commonly overlooked replacement item on a lot of 6 cylinder BMW's. The crankcase breather valve purges oil vapor from the oil pan back into the intake where it is then burned by the engine. Overtime, the valve becomes clogged with condensation and can no longer effectively ventilate the motor. This causes the entire oil separator system to fail.

Pcv Install

Super easy diy. Take off air box or cai, maf, elbow boot, ccv pipe take off the 3 bolts (10mm) remove oil dipstick tube from pcv valve. Get pcv valve out. (this will take some flipping and pulling but not hard at all.) Remove entire Oil dipstick tube. IMPORTANT!!!! Attatch the dipstick tube to the pcv valve then re-install. Much easier that way.

My old PCV/CCV was gunked up. I'm sure they all get that way eventually. I took off the breather hose that connects to the valve cover and saw a 'dijon mustard' like substance. It was from short drives in the cold, it was on my oil cap as well. Anyways, I replaced it. I didn't remove the intake manifold (which probably would've been faster if I actually removed it). Removing the hose that connects to the bottom of the CCV then to the oil dipstick was a complete pain in the ass.. that's an understatement. You're very limited in room. You have to cut the hose vertically off of the dipstick tube itself. Nonetheless, it was doable. Preventative maintenance, check.
