Parking Brake Cable

The Parking brake, or sometimes referred to as an emergency brake, can be comprised of a mechanical or electronic system. Traditionally, parking brake systems were operated by either a hand or foot-operated lever which was linked to either a drum brake or disc setup via a parking brake cable. If the parking brake cable has become worn out by either stretching, seizing, or snapping, your parking brake system will not function properly.

Do I need to replace both brake cables at the same time ? Or preferred ? Thanks again

It''s not necessary as the individual cable adjustment can be done. It would only be required if both cables are stretched beyond their maximum adjustment length at the hand brake lever.

Is there any difference in length between the right and left parking brake cables? How do I gain access to these cables in order to replace them? If I release their attachment to the actuator will this release the brake shoes ?

There is a slight length difference between the left and right parking brake cable.
