Product Information

With OE connector and heated probe

Upstream or front oxygen sensors are responsible for measuring the exhaust as it comes out of the engine. This information is used by your BMW's DME to adjust fuel trim. Failed oxygen sensors can cause a check engine light as well as performance issues

Oxygen Sensor

Your vehicle's oxygen sensor works with your engine control unit to optimize your engine's performance. The oxygen sensor is measure the proportion of oxygen in the exhaust sends input back to the engine control unit so it can modify the vehicle's air fuel ratio based off of it's current conditions. In doing so your Oxygen Sensor is a major part of your vehicle engine management and fuel consumption.

Oxygen Sensor Failure Symptoms
  • Reduced fuel mileage
  • Failed emissions testing
  • A check engine light
  • Poor drive-ability

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Benjamin
I have been getting a "49E4 - Lambda probe, signal pump current, Nernst voltage or virtual ground" code. Couple of questions...... "Lambda probe" refers to the oxygen sensor, correct? It is not terminology that would also be used for a NOX sensor, right? Also, (and I have not been able to find a difinitive answer on this question anywhere) is there only one O2 sensor on the 2012 X5 diesel? If so, I think this is my part. Thanks for your time and I love your website. I buy all my BMW parts here now!
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Thanks for the support! The Lambda probe would only refer to the O2 sensor, and wouldn't apply to the NOx sensor. The M57 powered X5's only use 1 oxygen sensor, correct.
Question Posted by On
Hi, I have code P0030, is this the part for it? Thanks
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, a P0030 code would likely point to a bad O2 sensor.
Question Posted by Mathew
I have a 2011 x5 35d and have a CEL for bank 1 NOX failed. Is this the correct part?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No, this is an oxygen sensor. The NOx sensor is a completely different part. There are two NOx sensors on your vehicle, one upstream and one downstream. You would need to determine by fault code information as to which one is not functioning properly.
