BMW Oil Filter Housing Kit - Genuine BMW 11428488578KT

BMW's B58 engine has proven robust and reliable across numerous platforms. However, nothing is perfect. One engineering decision BMW made was to construct the oil filter housing from a plastic composite. One thing that seems to be a common theme when plastic composites are used is that they tend to fail in the long run. Over time, the oil filter housing on the B58 engine has shown itself to be a major weak point. There are a few common failure modes:

• Broken housing due to the overtightening of the oil filter cap
• Leaking from the perimeters of the oil filter housing

• Coolant and oil mixing due to cross-contamination from the degradation of the oil filter housing

• NOTE: While replacing the oil filter housing, it is highly recommended to replace the heat management module as well

• NOTE: This kit does not include Engine Oil, and it is recommended to do a full oil change accordingly
• NOTE: The replacement Oil Filter Housing Gasket set ONLY without the replacement oil filter housing, can be found here: KIT-11428488578KT13)

When transferring the original bolts to this new oil filter housing, you will likely find that the o-rings which retain these bolts have deteriorated. Upon removal, they're likely to tear apart.

We've included new o-rings made from Buna-N rubber, so they'll stand the test of time, and they're substantially more cost-effective than purchasing all new bolts. If you'd still like to purchase new hardware, they're available here: 6x BMW-11428585734
