Complete engine oil change kit for your E9X M3 featuring M Twin Power Turbo engine oil and OEM Mahle oil filter

Engine oil in any vehicle is a critical lifeline. This is especially true in the case of the BMW S65 V8. Regular servicing not only maintains current levels of performance but also helps reduce wear. BMW stipulates that the oil should be changed every 15,000 miles. We and other enthusiasts do not agree with this philosophy. Instead, we recommend oil changes every 5,000 miles to prevent sludge buildup and to ensure that the engine has fresh oil.

This oil change kit features and OEM Mahle filter kit with filter element, 2 drain plug crush washers, and filter housing gaskets along with 9 quarts of BMW recommended M Twin Power Turbo oil. Changing oil yourself on your E9X M3 will save you money over the dealer or specialist shops.

Please note: Tightening torque for the M12x1.5 oil drain plugs is 25Nm (~18.5 ft lbs) of torque. The oil filter cap on top of the oil filter housing is to be torqued to 40Nm (~29.5 ft lbs) of torque. You can use a 36mm, 6 point socket for removal of the oil filter housing cap or order special socket CTA-2574

Engine Oil Change Kit

Over time, oil breaks down, collects dirt and debris, and loses its lubricating properties, making it ineffective. An oil change kit offers all the necessary components for replacing the old, dirty engine oil with fresh oil to properly lubricate the engine components. Symptoms include: dark or dirty oil, unusual engine noises like knocking, increased engine heat, reduced fuel efficiency, smoke from the exhaust, and often on newer models and maintenance warning lights.

Engine Oil Change Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Dark or dirty oil: When you check the dipstick, if the oil appears black or very dark, it's likely time for an oil change.
  • Engine knocking sounds: A knocking or tapping sound from the engine can indicate insufficient lubrication due to old oil.
  • Increased engine temperature: Dirty oil is less efficient at dissipating heat, leading to higher engine temperatures

Why Not?
Once you get your rod bearings replaced, you need to stick with 10w-60 oil. With life time replacements, why not go OEM?

It's an oil & filter.
OEM oil and Mahle filter. Well packed, prompt shipment. Nothing really to write about other than if you're not going to use the FCP repetitively (i.e. returns), check with your local BMW dealer as it may be a better deal. Otherwise, kudos to FCP for great service.

Great kit
Car purrs like a kitten. Kit comes with everything you'll need, 2 O-rings for the filter housing (1 small, 1 big), 2 copper crush washers (remember to empty BOTH drain plugs - yes the S65 has TWO), a filter, and of course plenty of oil. My car took exactly 8 liters after bringing it up to operating temp, draining for ~30 mins - I didn't fully drain the oil filter housing. Always err on the side of caution when filling these cars, there is no dipstick so put in 8 liters first then top off (in 100 - 300ml increments - the e-dipstick is THAT sensitive) to avoid having to remove excess from the oil filter housing (don't even think about draining off excess with the drain plug!). Anyways, good luck, it's not that hard once you do it once. This kit does the trick.

This is exactly the correct kit with BMW spec oil for the S65 engine in a E9x M3. All of the crush rings, gaskets and filter that you need.
