Product Information

5W30 oil change kit featuring Castrol L-01 specified engine oil and Mann oil filter kit

Its critical to change your engine oil often to ensure proper lubrication at all times and to avoid sludge build up. The proper service intervals that we and enthusiasts recommend ranges from 5k to 7k miles.

This oil change kit features a Mann filter kit with filter element, drain plug crush washer, and filter housing gaskets along with 5 liters of Castrol 5W30 engine oil. Changing oil yourself on your BMW will save you money over the dealer or specialist shops.

Note: Oil changes must be performed when the engine oil is at operating temperature. To remove the oil filter cap you must use a 86mm, 16 flat wrench. If you do not have one already you can order it from FCP Euro, part number CTA-2489 or BMW special tool 119 240. The oil filter cap must be torqued to 25Nm (221 in lbs) . The oil pan drain plug must be replaced with the one included with the kit, tightening torque is 6Nm (53 in lbs)

Engine Oil Change Kit

Over time, oil breaks down, collects dirt and debris, and loses its lubricating properties, making it ineffective. An oil change kit offers all the necessary components for replacing the old, dirty engine oil with fresh oil to properly lubricate the engine components. Symptoms include: dark or dirty oil, unusual engine noises like knocking, increased engine heat, reduced fuel efficiency, smoke from the exhaust, and often on newer models and maintenance warning lights.

Engine Oil Change Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Dark or dirty oil: When you check the dipstick, if the oil appears black or very dark, it's likely time for an oil change.
  • Engine knocking sounds: A knocking or tapping sound from the engine can indicate insufficient lubrication due to old oil.
  • Increased engine temperature: Dirty oil is less efficient at dissipating heat, leading to higher engine temperatures

Question Posted by Jesse
Will this oil be alright to use in my 2015 428i bmw , I live in SoCal ? (I drive fast on the highway) Or should I go with a different oil weight like the 0w-30 genuine bmw oil ?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Either one would work fine for you, I will say many of our customers have moved from a the factory 0W30 to a 5W30.
Question Posted by Peter
Couple of questions.... 1) is this LL-01 certified? 2) is it synthetic? does it matter if I'm changing very 5k? 3) This kit was specified for my 2014 228i, but when I look up the oil I cannot find 2-series listed as applicable model
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The engine oil in this kit meets BMW LL_01 spec and is full synthetic.
Question Posted by a customer
Is 5 liters enough for 2013 528i? I thought it was 7
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This oil change kit is correct. 5 liters is the max capacity for a 2013 528i with an N20 4-cylinder engine.
Question Posted by Bonifacio
Will this be good for my 2013 328i xdrive n26 f30?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No. This kit does not fit you F30 328i xDrive as this kit is for rear wheel drive models only that have the plastic oil pan. The xDrive cars use an aluminum oil pan with a standard drain plug. You can find oil change kits for your car by [clicking here](/BMW-parts/328i-xDrive/Engine-Oil-Change-Kits/?year=2013&m=20&e=2122&t=5&b=5&d=4927&v=).
