Does this offer the self adjusting feature? If not, what are my options? Is the SAC a necessity? Struggling with DMF or single mass flywheel...Thanks! Steve

No, this clutch kit will not retain the self adjusting characteristics as the OE clutch kit would. The only alternative would be to use the LuK or Sachs OE styled dual mass flywheel and clutch combination. Single mass flywheels will allow the vehicle to rev more freely but come at the cost of causing flywheel chatter at idle along with having to shift gears more precisely to reduce wear. Dual mass flywheels will dampen the flywheel noise but also come with the aid of utilizing the self adjusting characteristics when shifting through the gears accordingly. Depending on the style of driving you wish to have with your vehicle, each kit offers its pros and cons.

The clutch/flywheel for SMG and non-SMG E46 M3's are the same from the factory. However, when using an upgraded clutch on an SMG car there are potential problems with higher clamp load pressure plates that can negatively impact the function of the SMG hydraulic system. For that reason, we do not recommend this clutch for SMG cars
