Product Information

Controls air/fuel ratio

Your BMW's mass air flow sensors reads the amount of air entering your engine. This information is used by your cars DME to determine fuel trim and other necessary metrics in order to deliver best performance and economy. This particular mass air flow sensor is known as a "hot wire" type sensor. As this sensor ages it becomes inaccurate or simply burns out. When this happens you engine may not run properly and you will likely have a check engine light. This replacement sensor from VDO original equipment for your BMW.

Note: 3 pin connector

Mass Air Flow Sensor

Mass air flow sensors are tasked with measuring the amount of air entering the engine via the intake. This mass air flow sensor is known as a hot film sensor which will suffer performance deterioration over time. The sensor is designed to be self cleaning. A faulty or non functioning mass air flow sensor will cause a check engine light and in some cases cause a limp mode. The best way to diagnose a faulty mass air flow sensor is to disconnect it and see if engine idle or performance improves.

Mass Air Flow Sensor Failure Symptoms
  • Check engine light illumniated with OBD codes related to MAF sensor faults
  • Engine has rough idle and/or stalls
  • Short term fuel trim is rich at idle or lean under load
  • Constantly runs rich or lean

MAF Sensor
This is reference to 2001 BMW 3.30Ci which was showing a MAF sensor failure. Upon checking the sensor found the sensor did not have any part number or name. I am guessing it might be China copy cat. The car was under repair by a previous shop. I am DIY. I bought the FCP MAF sensor and it resolved the MAF failure issue. The product came well packaged and on time. So far no issue but time will tell. Will keep monitoring.

Avoid buying it. go for VDO
those knows knows that on BMW, MAF / Crank and Cam sensors should be changed only with OE or Genuine parts...any other brand will cause mysterious codes to pop up time to time, engine will run but not perfecly...I experience this on my engine and ended up paying more to get only OE parts or Genuine (I had BREMI MAF so am talking out of my experience), only after that all my Lean/Rich codes went away, engine runs perfectly smooth and no problems at all...it u want to scratch your had, buy this part for example and I guarantee your will never make your engine running without problems. Just but OE or Original Parts, saving little bit money does not works here. go buy VDO/Continental MAF for M54

Terrible Quality
Well this just goes to show you can’t always trust reviews. First off as I’m installing it without applying literally any force the crosshairs on the MAF sensors snapped. It’s made with thinnest layer of plastic possible. So I was like great, but it’ll still work they’re just there for protection. Nope. This maf sensor is reading 0.89lb/min which is almost 7grams/second! Reading further into Bremi MAF sensors almost everyone has had bad experiences with their sensor from Bremi. Found that if I move MAF cable head, it loses contact. The contacts on the sensor are too thin and they lose contact with the MAF sensor cable causing engine codes and a high idle. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Buy genuine BMW.

Bremi MAF sensor and FCP service.... can't go wrong!
FCP offered the widest range of MAF sensor options I could find from a reputable supplier. They were 1/3 the price of a lesser product I could buy in Australia and they got my order across the globe in less than a week. The part fits like a glove, and performs exactly as expected. Premium quality part, premium service. Thank you!

MAF sensor review
I have the 2005 E53. After approximately 99,000 km, this thing gave out. Kept putting the vehicle into the Transmission Failsafe mode. Bought this sensor and it completely cured that issue. I would highly recommend it.

BMW Mass Air Flow Sensor - Bremi 13627567451
I received the item in very good packaging conditions. Installed the new MAF, test drove and noticed car response is way better compared when still has the old MAF. Highly recommended product!

Working well
My '03 530i was misfiring heavily, cruise wasn't working and was experiencing a whole host of other problems- the new MAF cured all these issues.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Isaias
when should you replace ur maf sensor is there a certain mileage to do so or as soon as ur car starts having issues?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
There is not really a mileage recommended for replacement, it would come down to condition of and operation of the MAF in question.
