Product Information

30.8mm M3 CSL front stabilizer bar kit

This kit comes with the M3 CSL 30.8mm front stabilizer bar, bushing, brackets, and associated hardware. The stabilizer bars/sway bar help stabilize body roll in the corners and keep the tires planted securely to the ground. This hollow stabilizer bar is significantly thicker than all other E46 sway bars and will increase lateral stiffness.

Suspension Stabilizer Bar

A sway bar—also called an anti-roll bar or stabilizer bar—is a suspension component designed to reduce body roll during cornering. It essentially a metal rod that connects the left and right wheels (usually via short sway bar links) and twists slightly when the vehicle leans. This twisting action helps keep the car flatter in turns, improving stability and handling.

Suspension Stabilizer Bar Failure Symptoms
  • Excessive Body Roll in Turns: The car leans more than usual when cornering, making it feel less stable.
  • Clunking, Knocking, or Rattling Noises: Often heard when driving over bumps or during turns—usually from worn or broken sway bar links/bushings.

  • Uneven or Premature Tire Wear: Poor handling can lead to increased stress on certain tires.
  • Reduced Cornering Grip: The car might feel like it’s losing traction sooner when turning.
