Stock clutch set ups on most newer BMW's use a dual mass flywheel and a rigid disc. Dual mass flywheels are generally pretty heavy and leave a lot to be desired in terms of performance and durability under heavy use such as track driving. One of the easiest ways to change the driving characteristics of your BMW is to delete the dual mass flywheel and replace it with solid flywheel that is significantly lighter than stock. This kit uses a Fidanza all aluminum flywheel that weights in at 13 pounds.

Combined with the deletion of the dual mass flywheel you can now use a more traditional hub damped clutch and also delete the self adjusting mechanism that is part of the pressure plate on most newer BMW's. This kit uses a high performance organic hub sprung clutch disc from Sachs Performance and matches it along with the appropriate Sachs Performance pressure plate. Combined with the flywheel you'll get quicker engine response and a better feeling clutch that's designed to handle more abuse.

Included with this kit is an E31 steel clutch fork pivot pin which is the most durable option on the market available. It's especially ideal for this clutch and flywheel setup. In addition, FCP Euro has included a torque plate and properly sized flywheel bolts to properly install the flywheel with the torque plate.

Please note: The included flywheel bolts that are packaged with the Fidanza flywheel are not properly sized for installation with a torque plate which we recommend doing to prevent galling of the aluminum flywheel when torquing the flywheel bolts. Included M12x1.5x35 bolts should be installed using blue threadlocker after thoroughly cleaning the threads on the crankshaft. Torque spec for the class 10.9 M12x1.5 bolts is 115Nm. The pressure plate bolts are torqued to 25Nm.
