An engine oil level sensor monitors the oil level in the engine's oil pan and sends real-time data to the vehicle's ECU (engine control unit). This information helps ensure the engine has enough oil for proper lubrication. • Oil Level Warning Light: The most common symptom of a failing oil level sensor is the oil level warning light on the dashboard. This light may come on even if the oil level is correct, indicating a malfunction in the sensor itself
