An Air Bag Impact Sensor (also called a crash sensor or airbag sensor) is a safety device in a vehicle that detects sudden deceleration or impact during a collision. It sends a signal to the Airbag Control Module (ACM), which then triggers the airbag deployment to protect occupants.

• Airbag warning light on the dashboard – most common symptom; indicates a fault in the airbag system.
• Airbags may not deploy in a crash – a dangerous failure, as the sensor won’t send the deployment signal.
• Airbags deploy unexpectedly – rare, but possible with a faulty or shorted sensor.
