M3 specific hood support strut, two per car, priced and sold individually

Hood lift supports literally keep the roof (or hood) from falling on down. Most modern vehicles do not have hood props and rely on gas pressurized support struts instead. FCP highly recommends replacing hood struts in matching pairs.

Hood Lift Support

Hood lift supports, or gas struts, are pressurized cylinders designed to hold up a car's hood. Over time, they can fail due to a pressure drop, often caused by exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, or contaminants. Cold weather, in particular, can reduce the gas pressure inside the struts, making them less effective at supporting the hood during cooler conditions.

Hood Lift Support Failure Symptoms
  • The hood may feel heavier or fail to stay open as high as before due to a gas leak in the lift support
  • Grease or oil leaking from the existing shocks
  • Seeping noise or creaks coming from the shocks when lifting the hood or trunk
  • Hood or trunk fails to stay open when raised

Perfect Fit for E46 M3
Exact replacement, since it's OEM; just missing the BMW branding. You just need a small screwdriver to pop the old clips and the new ones pop right on!

Is there a spec on the spring pressure? I purchased a different brand and it's extremely stiff for the aluminum e46 M3 hood.
