A hood latch is the mechanical locking device that secures a vehicle’s hood in the closed position. It typically consists of a latch mechanism mounted on the vehicle frame, a striker on the hood, and a release system operated by a cable from inside the cabin. Many vehicles also use a secondary safety catch to prevent the hood from flying open if the primary latch fails. Over time, dirt, rust, and wear can cause the latch to malfunction.

Crimped connector does not fit the "middle" snap connector. These pieces are both brand new and both from the same manufacturer.
The rubber shredded when I pulled it through the firewall hole, not a biggie tried to salvage operation. Discovered cable housing length from hand pull lever to firewall plug was 2-3 inches too short, it needs to be the correct length to keep the wire inside the plastic guide. That may have been why the plastic chipped off where it attaches to the hand lever; likely happened when I tried to pull the firewall plug in place.. Was this old stock for rubber and plastic to fail so easily? Complete fail, gonna have to try BMW brand. if I could give zero stars...
So I bought this after my cable broke, not actually needing the spring lever part (thank goodness) because after installing it, the cable "sheathing" just broke through where it's supposed to sit on the pulley block thing, and broke the holder for the sheathing. Good thing my cable broke because I was able to use my old pulley block part and it works just fine now.
Rubber seal in the middle was not in the right place and need to be moved by few inches. It was clamped quite hard and required to loose the bracket.
