Product Information

We created this BMW F30 and F32 high pressure fuel pump kit to replace the fuel pump with the updated version in early production model BMW N20 and N26 engines. This kit includes the additional adapter plug and wiring that needs to be soldered in place as well as a new fuel feed pipe, fuel pump seal, and fuel pump camshaft follower. To learn how to install this new high pressure fuel pump on your BMW F30 or F32, we have a helpful DIY included below.

The high pressure fuel pump (also referred to as HPFP) on the BMW F30 with the N20 or N26 engine is located on the cylinder head and is driven by the exhaust camshaft. As the pumping mechanism of the N20 HPFP is mechanically driven, wear of the components can happen over time, especially if the engine oil isn't changed regularly or is changed with the incorrect spec oil.

BMW N20 High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms

The problems associated with BMW N20 high pressure fuel pump failure can range from mildly annoying at first to crippling. The most common symptoms are:

  • Long cranking when starting the engine

  • Limp mode engaging

  • Engine won't turn over or start

HP Fuel pump
Couldn't believe how inexpensive this was. Part stores in my area wanted up to $800 for this part. Got it here for under $400 and took me about 45min to replace. Drove the car to Socal straight thru that night and haven't had any issues since.

Perfect kit for my 2014 528!
This kit fixed my low pressure fuel issues. The FCP Euro DIY video was super helpful and reminded me to get the full kit, including the adapter for the early models. Installation was a breeze - completed in less than 30 minutes, including clearing the the error codes. Highly recommended.

Just replaced the hpfp on my n26 engine 2014 3 series, used everything in the kit except for the hpfp feed pipe, but only reason i didnt replace that was because it was too cold outside and i just reused the old one, other then that everything was replaced and works perfect so far, my fuel pump went at around 70k miles but i always drove the car with a full tank of gas because everytime i have 1/4 gas left the car stalls i ran and obd2 and it gave me a code p0087 and p142e so i replaced the rail pressure sensor but it happened again meaning it was the fuel pump, hope this helps someone out and thank you fcp euro!

The Bosch 13518604229 high-pressure fuel pump fits an N20-powered 2017 320i, but this complete retrofit kit is generally unnecessary because it includes the wiring adapter and fuel line needed for earlier pump configurations. Please send the full VIN to service@fcpeuro.com so we can confirm whether you need only the pump or any additional components.

Note the production date split information between both kits and kit content information. Vehicles built before 3/2014 will require additional parts for installation while vehicle built from 3/2014 do not require additional parts. The additional parts (wiring lead and fuel feed line) are needed as part of a technical update and are pictured in this kit (13518604229KT) and are not pictured in the other (13518604229KT1). The additional required parts for installation increase the price of the kit.

This is a two pin connector so it's pretty straight forward to update. Match up pin 1 and pin 2 on the existing connector on the engine harness with pin 1 and pin 2 with the included connector/leads. You can also take a photo or note which color on the existing connector goes to which pin for easy reference during the job.

Is there a fuel filter that goes with this? Also does the fuel tank have anything that needs replacing as well?

No, there is no fuel filter that goes with the high pressure fuel pump. This pump is located on the engine for the high pressure injection system. The fuel filter for the low pressure fuel system (supply for the high pressure fuel pump) is located inside the fuel tank along with the low pressure fuel pump.
