Product Information

Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

Radiator Failure Symptoms
  • Overheating
  • Coolant Leak
  • Cracking
  • Bent Fins
  • Clogged Fins caused by debris

Failed Radiator
I installed this radiator in my car back in September 2021. I figured everything would outlast the 2 Behr radiators I used before. The seams down the side have started to split and gradually leak coolant. I have never tracked the car and put less than 20k miles on the radiator. I will be using the warranty but 4 years seems short for an all aluminum radiator for regular daily driving. I used both the BMW and blue European coolant approved for European cars.

Question Posted by Kumar
I just bought one from FCP, but I’m wondering what to do with the 4 long bolts and spacer hardware as seen on the photo. Everything fits well without it so what are these for?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
For some applications, these would be used. If you did not need them, then those are not required for your vehicle.
Question Posted by a customer
Looking for Fitment Confirmation of this Radiator for a 2002 E39 530i September Production AUTOMATIC Trans. As other questions state, there is a lot of conflicting information. Would like to proceed with a purchase if confirmed this product TRULY fits without modification to my above mentioned model.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Unfortunately, this will not fit your vehicle and CSF does not produce a radiator for your vehicle at this time.
Question Posted by Patrick
I was looking at the CSF website and it says that this part will not fit the 1999 BMW E39 528i. I reached out to CSF and they also said in an email that it will not fit the 528i. Do you know of anyone who has purchased this radiator and installed it on a 528i?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This radiator is designed for the E39 540i from 9/1998 with a manual transmission and the E39 M5. It is a direct fit performance radiator. With that said, the factory OE radiator for the above-mentioned applications, p/n 17111436060, also fits the E39 528i after 9/1998, E39 525i, and E39 530i. There is no reason this radiator will not work for the 6 cylinder models when the spacing/size requirements are the same for a 540i and M5. Our fitment guide is based on p/n 17111436060 which is effectively what this CSF radiator is. Our assumption as to why CSF says it does not fit is because they never tested it. We have several orders for this radiator the the applicable 6 cylinder E39's with no fitment complaints or returns.
