Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

Radiator Failure Symptoms
  • Overheating
  • Coolant Leak
  • Cracking
  • Bent Fins
  • Clogged Fins caused by debris

Tight fit
I installed the radiator on my ‘05 M3. It was a tight fit on the left side. The fan didn’t clear the shroud until last few turns because the upper left mounting bracket on the radiator isn’t perfectly straight. It pushes radiator and the shroud too far back. Once I had the fan tightened all the way then it didn’t rub. So it “fits” but I lost a lot of time quadruple checking why it was so tight. I didn’t try to bend or straighten the mounting bracket (eyelet). I finally just tightened the fan all the way and it cleared on the last few turns. Filled and bled fine.

e46 M3 CSF Radiator
Purchased this radiator to replace the original radiator in my 2003 M3. Fitment was very good (not perfect), but close. No plastic, all aluminum, nicely welded. I have not driven the car yet (winter storage), but no leaks yet. If I have problems this coming spring/summer I will update this review. I replaced the upper and lower hoses at the same time. If you do this, be sure to order a new O ring for the auxiliary fan switch in the lower hose. I believe this is the part you need. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-temperature-sensor-o-ring-091158010 Also order the Fan Shroud Clip. Quite likely to brake when being removed. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vaico-bmw-fan-shroud-clip-17111712963
