BMW Headlight Adjuster Kit - Odometer Gears E39HAK

I bought these for my 2002 525i, and I am very impressed with them. My stock adjusters were completely destroyed, so my headlights were aimed really low. I used the no-bake method of replacement (Here's a great Youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnRPg5o45Ik&t=6s), and it took me about a half hour to an hour per headlight. It's a tight space in the headlight housing, but the no-bake method isn't too much of a hassle, and I would recommend it. These parts are much higher quality than the 20-year-old OEM adjusters, and they are a great replacement. I can see at night again!

My 2003 e39 Xenon headlights were pointing down and wouldn't adjust, leaving me unable to see adequately during night driving unless using the highbeams. I removed the headlight assemblies and saw the broken white plastic adjusters rattling around inside. I ordered these adjuster parts from FCP Euro and once they arrived it took me about three hours to carefully remove all the old broken parts and install these. My 2003 Headlamps original adjusters looked a little different, but these replacements work great. The headlamp assemblies on the 2003 E39's with facelift Xenon lighting can't be baked apart, so extraction of the many broken pieces of the old brittle adjusters and installation of the new plastic adjusters had to be done after removing the igniters, boots and bulbs on the rear, then reaching in through the light bulb access holes. I used a 3 piece varied set of straight to curved large 12 inch long needle nosed pliars from Lowes, and locking and rotating Surgical clamps / hemostats obtained at a local surgical supply store (check Amazon) to assist me in removing some stubborn broken parts and to help set the new adjuster parts in the channels inside the headlight assemblies. Without these tools the job would never have gotten done. After the new parts from FCP Euro were installed, I tested operation and adjustment then adjusted the beam height and angle to get the best headlight illumination during darkness. Give yourself about 5 hours total, and enjoy being able to see again at night while driving the E39! New assemblies are 1400 bucks each, I fixed mine for 40!!! Thanks FCP Euro!

Worked perfect for 2001 525i headlights. Once you bake your headlight open it is matter of minutes to get these parts in.

Thank you, odometer gears, for sticking it to arseloch...i mean Bmr. Found out that the passenger headlight had the older Hella butyl adhesive on the lens, and my drivers side must have been replaced at some point with a 2008 model that used the newer PU adhesive. Installing the passenger side was extremely simple. The drivers side turned into a Mickey-Mouse extravaganza. Gorrilla tape and expletives aside, my headlights are now aimed properly. Be sure to check the mold stamps on the FRP body of the headlight assembly: if the headlight was produced after (i believe) 12/2000 you are gonna have a difficult time. Not insurmountable, and likely much cleaner options than the route I took, just be aware.

While these may be plastic like OEM, they are a more durable and longer lasting plastic. Installed them in my car 9 months ago and haven't had any issues at all. Odometer Gears is well respected throughout the auto community.

Perfect solution for broken adjuster pieces on a 2003 BMW xenon headlight. I was able to replace both adjusters without removing lens. I just googled on the internet how to do it and was able to perform the job. Saved me from having to spend $$$ for new xenon headlights!

If you take your time, this kit works perfectly. My headlights self level again. Used on 2002 E39.

This kit did NOT come with the removal tool. The tool makes it easier to remove the old, broken male adjuster from the female socket. You have to be careful removing the adjuster so that you do not break the female piece which is not included. I don't even know if the female piece is available anywhere; I could not find it. The replacement adjuster is a higher quality fiberglass reinforced plastic. It does not fit as tight into the female piece as the original adjuster, so there will be a little movement. Be sure to lubricate the adjuster threads (lithium grease will do) before threading adjuster into place, or else the external adjuster knob might come loose off the shaft (due to excessive friction) like it did to me.

First headlight took a while second was relatively quick. First headlight broke a geared knob and I think the primary reason is the holes in these are not the same as oem. (I will provide our measurements later) to give you the gyst odometer gears spec'd the holes for a tap.. and not for a self tapping screw. The material is hard so there is the potential to crack that gear from its pressed adjuster bolt, pretty inconvenient. Second headlight we chased the holes and lubricated them... no issue. If you think your hands are too big tilt the housings in a manner to let it fall into place. Should be manageable. Locking medical pliers came in handy and a flexible screw driver for the torx bolts in the housings helped as well. This was done on 03 housings which can't be seperated and there should be no reason to cut them. i followed instructions from a youtube video I watched installing the long adjuster and then its seating seperately first ( don't attach it) then the more rectangular one clicked into its ballseat, if you tilt the housing you should be able to get it into place with some manipulation and tilting. Works well as a replacement. Patience will complete this job satisfactorily. Tip: when removing old parts BE CAREFUL because the plastic will shread and will be hard to get out of the headlight assembly.
